The Perks of Being A Wallflower

The Perks of Being A Wallflower
Book Cover

So tell me, how do you feel about being in the head of a teenage boy and dealing with things such as drugs, abortion and abuse?

Yeah, I wasn't very excited either but God knows why I continued. It was actually a very nice story.

So read on.

Charlie is not normal. At least, I think American teenage boys don't think like that. The world would be so different if it were so.

Now, I'm not the one to usually read these kind of books but I think I heard about it or about the movie and so I looked for it and found, and then, read it. It isn't particularly long and simple enough for my undeveloped mind so I didn't have a hard time with the text. But with the content... well the story is different.

Being a teenager is difficult- it holds it's own challenges as everything else does in life. And Charlie is just another who has to deal with these things. But his way of seeing the world, being inside his weirdo head, it made me finish the story even though some of the things brought up made me slightly uncomfortable or slightly mad. His head was such a wonderful place to be.

I loved this book, as I love most of those that I read, and I just enjoyed his company so so much. You get to experience this innocence within him that flares up with the smallest of things. He's emotional and it just makes him more human. He's real, his thoughts are sincere and true and I think anyone can empathize with him because he has to deal with everyday situations but being inside his head makes it all a little less harder and that is why I loved reading it. It is why I keep rereading it.

So if you like those lovely stories where everything is perfect- than this might not be the one for you. But if you like to keep things real in the real world, well than, Charlie is one of my most wonderful friends and I think you´d like him too.
