So you like dystopian, eh?
Well here comes another dystopian trilogy. So tell me, how do you feel about mazes, amnesia and big mechanical bugs?
Sounds like the recipe for fun, huh? Well, continue on and see how fun it really was.
So The Maze Runner is the first novel in what has come to be a trilogy, another dystopian as they seem to really be popular nowadays. We start off with Thomas. A teenage guy who has no memories whatsoever but only his name.
He wakes up and rises in "the box" and is greeted by plenty of other guys around his age, and very tall stones that serve as walls. Slowly, he starts to learn about the life in "The Glade" as they call it, and he finds out no one remembers anything of their past life. Thomas makes friends, sort of, with Chuck and makes an enemy as well. And for the rest, well read it.
Well, I had high expectations for this book. It was what happened with TFIOS, I heard many people talking about it and I was curious so I looked for it and thankfully found it. I began it eagerly, hoping to find another great trilogy to cry fangirl over. And sadly, I was dissapointed.
I mean, it was interesting, yes- but it wasn't that good. Maybe a 3 of 5 stars. It just didn't call my attention. The characters were okay, and the plot itself was interesting as well. And I really enjoyed getting to know the Glade's slang. But it wasn't as entertaining as I'd hoped it to be.
So, go ahead and give it a try if you'd like. Maybe you end up loving it. If you enjoy mysteries, hints of romance and dead people- then this one may be just for you.
Ah, and remember- WICKED IS GOOD.
