Divergent

Book Cover 2011

Okay. So we have this new world where the human population is divided into factions. The cover says "One choice can transform you". And I totally agree.

Say, you have decided to become a Drag Queen- you'll certainly tranform alright.

So, tell me, what do you know about the Divergent? Nothing? Yeah, me neither, until I read this.

So, another dystopian novel to add to the ever-growing list. Now, I know people started once again comparing and saying this was the new Hunger Games. But that's dumb because the only simlarity was that they were both set out in the future. Which would indicate that every dystopian novel is the same. But as we all know that to be false, let me continue.

I am writing this review having finished all three books already. So I must admit my vision on this may be tainted by future situations. I will do my best to talk about the book itself.

And now, we have another new world brought into our brains. Great! And we have new divisions to be part of, like the Cabins in Percy Jackson and the houses in Harry Potter. Now, we have factions. I already did the test and I am Dauntless, thank you very much.

So, right, back to the point. Beatris is our average 16 year old girl who lives in the faction of Abnegation (the selfless), with her mother and father and her brother Caleb. But that time has come where they must decided what faction to be a part of. They can stay in Abnegation of course, but they can also go to Erudite (the Ravenclaws of this world), Dauntless (the brave ones), Candor (those who never lie) or to Amity (the hippies- I mean those who only want peace). And with this small choice Tris must take, starts the whole trilogy that you/we are/were about to witness.

This story is full of action, adventure, interesting plot twists and new characters. Tris in particular is peculiar, and though I don't have much in common with her, and she and I disagreed a lot as well- it was good.

I wasn't very obsessed with it as I tend to do with most of the books I read but that's okay. So, if you like dystopian, action and Dauntless cake- this one's for you.
