Ender's Game Movie Review

Ender's Game Movie Poster

A lot of years from now we will depend on kids to save the world, or at least that's what happend in Ender's Game the Book.

The movie is, well, nothing but a fraction of the book as always.

Ender's Game is one of those sci-fi wonders that you remember for a long time because of it's truth in plot, characters and other important stuff like that. Just like The Hunger Games.

We have little boy whose Third which is not a position you'd like to be in those times and who has a nice older sister and a bullying older brother- something most of us can relate to. And the journey is supposed to be from this little boy to a child that is chosen to save the planet earth from the "buggers". But to get to this he hurts a lot, he gets hurt a lot and his mind is tested. Not just his intelligence but his wisdom as well.

Now, as movie itself it was ok. I liked the visuals of it all though I¿d imagined it all quite differently. The actors were ok as well, though Ender is supposed to be younger but as I said, not comparing it to the book it was a good movie.

But the whole point of this blog is to compare the book (as I am the Bookdragon) to it's film adaptation and note how the film adaptation always falls short.

Ender's Game (book) is such a complex novel and follows what´s to be a journey of years and how the mind of a brilliant child turns up to be our salvation. Spoilers. We get into Ender's head though I admittedly don't understand how it work yet but that is also the beauty of it. Ender Wiggin's mind is a puzzle, a wise one as well, and the movie was unable to show what a brilliant kid this was. And it didn't follow along to many of the character´s plot which I think play an important role in stories. My point is, though the movie was good it missed a million things- probably even more than in the Harry Potter franchise- that were important to me from the book. Still, I'll let it be.

Check out the movie, or read the book if you'd like. Personally- I'll stick with the book.
