Better book cover than the original |
So, tell me, have you too heard a lot of good stuff about this one?
I did. And so curiosity got me. And yeah, I know- curiosity killed the cat. But he died knowing. And yes, now I'm dying too.
I just hope no one else does. Especially not James, although I think I read a spoiler accidentally which absolutely sucks it is but I still have hopes.
Right, so to the review.
Well, this one was one I heard about. Just like most of them. And I was in this awful reading slump as if that weren't obvious (by the absence of any book reviews so far) because I was too busy acting normal. Can you believe it? But thankfully, I'm back now and a lot of reviews are coming becuase I've also started my channel on BookTube.
Anyways, so I actually end up finding all of the books of the trilogy including the 1.5 and 2.5 so I'm like, "Ok, but what's it about?" And I read the Goodreads thing and oh my gods, I'm hooked! I get really really curious so I decide to start reading. It did take me quite a while to finish it, like a whole week, but I loved it nonetheless.
The writing is magnifeicent and it's not something I usually pay much attention to, but this one was really beautiful. And I mean, the concept itself is great! A teenage girl with a lethal touch? Damn. And the best part is that the story, the girl, everything goes so much more deeper than a teenager having cool powers. Becuase this girl has been taken advantage of, she has been bullied, she has been rejected and cast aside by society and what's worse- by her own family.
And all of it just really got to me, because over the years I've learned I have no one but my family. I can always count on my mother, but for Julliette? She has no one. No one.
And it makes her that much the wiser.
Oh, and the ending! I fist pumped- I literally did. It was so awesome, I swear by the River Styx. So, basically I say you should read it. Yeah, there was a bit too much romance but I heard it gets better and I am so looking forward to that. Expect a Destroy Me Review pretty soon because I've already read it and now I'm going with Unravel Me which is logically book two.
So, if you like strong female characters, weird love triangles (romance at all), and sarcastic, aggresive characters- I can assure you this one is one hell of a read.
