Novella cover 2.5 |
So, tell me- team Warner or team Adam?
I'll let you in on a secret- I wasn't sure myself (as Juliette is obviously) until I read this. But I will refrain from telling you in case my new OTP sinks.
So, book 2.5 and this time we're in Adam's head.
We almost died last book (spoilers!), so let me continue up on that.
Yes, we almost died. Luckily we didn't. I was legitamately shocked when we got shot in the chest though. And I really hope I didn't just spoil that. Sorry if I did. Er, tagged with #minorspoilers now.
So yeah. We have been in Juliette's head and we've now been in Warner's as well. I did my review on Destroy Me so you can check that out as well. And now we get Adam's POV.
I must confess, his head is so much more simpler than the other two's. Honestly. He thinks like a normal teenage dude with problems. Not like the other two. Most definitely not like them.
And it is perhaps odd, but I found it a bit dissapointing. But how can I not expect anything else- I mean, have you heard Warner? When he speaks to Juliette, driven by his feels? Have you heard it? It's perfect. So to be in this much more simpler yet equally hurt head is a new experience but not a thrilling one.
We do get to see him be Big.-brother-Adam though. I didn't mind that. It was a bit odd as well, because he was a but impatient and sometimes rude but I understood him. I have younger siblings as well. And we also got to see how he really felt about that whole accident with Kenji- whom I love by the way- and how he thought it actually had been Juliette but had defended her anyways. I appreciated that.
It was just so different... I can't get over that. Tahereh write magnificently as I say in practically every book review, but in this novella we see how she only writes according to how her characters speak and feel. And I found that pretty cool as well.
So, this isn't really an important read and it doesn't tell you much of what you don't already know. It does let you in a bit on how Adam and Warner are different- especially when it comes to Juliette- but you can go through the trilogy well.
But if you like the series, and if you're team Adam and if you want to know who survived? Then you should seriously read this one because it'll let you know who did and who didn't. No spoilers on that.
