Do not read as children do, to amuse yourself, or like the ambitious for the purpose of instruction. No, read in order to live.
Anyone can like reading, books are for anyone who's willing to give them a chance.
But don't you dare claim you like reading for the sake of standing out or being different. Don't you dare use the purpose of my life as a way to make you seem more original. Don't you dare compare your flimsy like of a love story with my eternal passion for epic fiction tales and new worlds.
Because you may like a story, a book but I?
I will have its words etched into my heart forever. I will have the characters a part of my own self from now and evermore. I will remember the times we spent frequently and with adoring love. I will revisit them beyond sanity and time advises.
Because I live in them. And they live in me.
It is never merely temporal entertainment. The story, the book, the author - the words are engraved in my heart, my mind and my soul.
So don't you dare compare your like of books with my love for books. It would be like comparing a flashlight to the sun. You see, the flashlight will run out and its light will fade. But for millions of years before us and millions of years to come, the sun will burn it's licking flames and warm the earth with its fire. It will light the day and wait patiently the night. It will simply burn and keep burning until it has nothing more to give.
So, yes, books are of everyone's possession - but I am solely of theirs.
